Step 1: Lift the Mower
- Before any maintenance you should safely lift the mower on a surface with the help of jack. Make sure your mower is in a balanced position.
- If you do not have any jack then you can use any bucket or any supporting stuff which will lift the mower from the front side.
- Then remove the belt covers and slide them back to expose the pulleys.
Step 2: Find the Pulley Blade
- Lift the plate to gain better access to the pulleys.
- First locate the pulley blades which will be removed. So for your easy understanding let’s call the blade Pulley A.
Step 3: Lock the Nut
- In this step you need a 15/16 box wrench to lock the nut on the Pulley A side. Make sure you are properly locked otherwise the nut will spin.
Step 4: Loosen the Blade
- Here to loosen the blade you need a special tool called ratchet with a 15/16 socket.
- Under the mower on the Pulley A side nut, turn the ratchet counter clockwise to loosen the blades.
- After loosening the pulley blades you can remove it by hand safely.
Step 5: Sharpen the Blades (Optional)
- This step is totally optional. It is totaly depends upon you. But we recommended to sharpen and balance the blades. Because sometimes the dull edges of the blades can affect the mower’s performance.
Step 6: Reinstall the Blade
- Put the balanced and sharpened blade back to the Pulley A. Then tighten the nut and bolt properly using a torque wrench which is set to 100 foot pounds.
Step 7: Repeat for Other Blades
- If you have more blades to remove, you can do it by repeating the Steps 4 to 6 for each one.
Step 8: Lower the Mower
- Carefully lower the mower using the jack or other methods mentioned earlier. Make sure it’s securely on the ground.
